Every two years, MDFA conducts a Supporter Survey with new patients, family members, and carers who have reached out to us for information, guidance, and support.

The results of this survey are important to ensure that we are providing new community members with support that’s relevant, timely and allows those people newly diagnosed with a macular condition to feel empowered and prepared for the journey ahead.

The results of the 2022 survey reflect the COVID-19 pandemic period.

In this time, we were concerned to record that 24% of respondents experienced a decline in their vision, with 3% of surveyed people delaying or stopping treatment.

While many of these people resumed treatment, this information has provided us with further understanding of the ongoing impact of lockdowns on our community.

Key metrics are an important way for MDFA to improve our services to the community.
