    Retinal vein occlusion

    Retinal vein occlusion affects about one to two per cent of people over the age of 40.

    This fact sheet covers the condition called retinal vein occlusion. Retinal vein occlusion (RVO) occurs when one of the veins in the retina becomes blocked.

    RVO affects about one to two per cent of people over 40, although most cases occur in people over 60. It usually only occurs in one eye. About 10 per cent of people with RVO will eventually develop the problem in the other eye.
