About the presenter

Our presenter, Scot Muirden, holds qualifications in Psychology and Social Work from the University of Melbourne. After nearly ten years working within the mental health sector, he transitioned into the field of eye health care, influenced by his family’s lived experience of vision impairment, including his mother and brother, who both have congenital visual conditions. During his time at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital, Scot encountered multiple cases of Charles Bonnet Syndrome (CBS), a condition that was not widely recognised or well understood within the eye health sector at the time. Noting the lack of exposure given to the condition, he established the Charles Bonnet syndrome Foundation in 2012. This became the first organisation dedicated to the syndrome in the world.
