Assisting you as a health professional
Macular Disease Foundation Australia aims to work collaboratively with health professionals to improve health literacy around macular disease.
We share a common interest with you, in encouraging patients to take early action to save sight.
Our objective is to build a ‘go to’ macular disease hub for health practitioners who have an interest in the macula and are keen to learn about the latest developments in macular research, resources and services available to support patients.
We encourage health professionals to refer your macular disease patients to MDFA at the earliest opportunity for expert, independent and free advice, and support.
By referring any patient at risk of or living with macular disease to the MDFA, as part of an integrated care model, you are ensuring patients will be better supported to improve their understanding of their condition, minimise risk factors for progression and live optimally.
Refer a patient
You can refer a patient to Macular Disease Foundation Australia at any stage of their macular disease journey – the earlier the better. We’ll help you support them with free information and non-clinical wellbeing support.
We provide a comprehensive range of information publications and resources to help you support your patients. Resources are available in bulk quantities for health professionals.
MDFA’s community education sessions are now largely online, with face-to-face seminars where possible. Our education sessions are a great promotion for your patients. We welcome collaboration and suggestions for seminar topics.
Publications for health professionals
We have two free e-news publications for health professionals. Sign up to Macula Matters or our Weekly Research Update for Eye Health Professionals.
