You can fund MDFA peer support face-to-face, over the phone and online
As we all continue to grapple with the realities of the COVID-19 pandemic, we’re reminded of just how important it is to support each other.
That’s why MDFA offers peer support services for the macular disease community across Australia: face-to-face, over the phone, and online.
But our peer support services could not exist without generous donations from people like you. Please donate today so we can continue to deliver this crucial service.
MDFA’s peer support connects people who are living with macular disease, allowing them to share their thoughts, experiences and advice with a friendly ear that understands what they’re going through.
When Laurna began losing her vision to dry age-related macular degeneration (also known as atrophic AMD), she realised there were no peer support groups for people like her in North Queensland.
But when Laurna emailed us asking for help, a member of our team called her back within 15 minutes to begin setting one up. And now, Laurna is the facilitator of our new peer support group in Townsville.
“When you attend a peer support group, you get that opportunity to talk to like-minded people with no judgment… without feeling that people are pitying you.”
Your donations allow us to be there for people like Laurna. Please donate today so we can continue to provide vital peer support to the macular disease community.
Thank you in advance for your generous support. And please remember, if you or a loved one ever need support, information or advice on your journey with macular disease, please call our National Helpline on 1800 111 709 – we’re here to help.
