Telesupport Program
There are currently openings available to listen to a presentation on macular degeneration (MD) and participate in peer support over the telephone from your own home this Tuesday 19 October.
“The Telesupport Program offers a great opportunity for people with MD to learn a bit more about their condition, hear stories of how others have coped with diagnosis, and know where to get the help they may need to live positive and independent lives,” said Julie Heraghty, CEO Macular Degeneration Foundation.
“As a clinical psychologist, I can understand the grief associated with being newly diagnosed and the frustration sometimes felt by those with MD that have vision loss. This session gives a chance to recognise and deal with depression and other considerations for people with low vision,” she added.
If you want to learn about macular degeneration, how it may affect your life, and ways in which you can live well with MD, then this Telesupport session is for you. Listen to positive suggestions to help manage your condition and retain independence and quality of life.
“It wasn’t until I started to learn about my condition and how much it would affect my vision that I came to terms with being diagnosed with macular degeneration. Since then I have accessed low vision services, and learnt to use my remaining vision and aids and technology to help me go about positively living my life,” said Jo Thomas, client with MD.
