Jeff Barber (aka. Grumpy) has lived with dry age-related macular degeneration and subsequent vision loss since 2004. Last year, he and his Girl Guides (his daughters Jenny, Cathy and Siobhan) trekked the Larapinta Trail in Alice Springs and raised vital donations for the Foundation.
“The trek proved to me that there are still many things out there that can be achieved and enjoyed. A new wave of optimism has washed over me thanks to the support of my three daughters and wife.” – Jeff

So many of the MD community were inspired by this story and their outstanding fundraising effort is evident of the support they have received.
MDFA is now working with World Expedition’s charity division Huma Charity Challenge and is inviting our community to follow in Grumpy’s footsteps and walk the Larapinta Trail.
If you, your family or friends have longed to do this awe-inspiring trek which runs along the spine of the West MacDonnell Ranges, and also raise important funds for macular disease, MDFA is taking expressions of interest to partake a seven day adventure leaving Alice Springs on 26 July 2018.
