Volunteer participants sought for age-related macular degeneration study

Implementing and evaluating a telephone-delivered dietary intervention for age-related macular degeneration (AMD) patients
This study is now closed.
Researchers at the University of Sydney are seeking volunteer participants for a study testing the effectiveness of telephone coaching to improve diet and adherence to appropriate supplements for people with AMD.
This study aims to improve dietary behaviours through information on diet and AMD, and by testing telephone coaching program tailored to AMD patients, which is delivered by an accredited practicing dietician.
Eligible participants are randomly assigned to either (1) engage in a 4-month telephone coaching program, or (2) receive general dietary information. Both groups will be asked to complete a questionnaire at the beginning of the study, and at subsequent follow ups (up to 3 times) over the course of a year.
There is no cost to participate in the study, nor is there any financial payment for participating.
Results from the study will be used to improve existing nutritional counselling services for patients with AMD.
