Foundation Applies for Funding
The Federal Government will announce the 2009-2010 national budget at 7:30pm on Tuesday 12 May 2009. The MD Foundation has applied for a renewal of our four year Federal grant in this year's budget.
The MD Foundation has been running a national campaign to emphasise the necessity of this funding to the Federal Government. The Foundation would like to take this opportunity to thank those who assisted us in this campaign. The Foundation received literally thousands of letters from our supporters to send to the Prime Minister's Office and understand that more were sent directly to the PM's office.
In addition, the Foundation wrote to every Federal MP and Senator requesting their support. The Foundation has been advised by many Federal Members of their representations to The Hon Nicola Roxon MP, Minister for Health and Ageing.
"It is times like these that the MD Foundation is truly humbled by the strength and support of the MD community," said Foundation CEO Julie Heraghty. "From the bottom of our hearts, we say thank you."
The Federal Government announced a four year grant to the Foundation in 2005 which enabled the Foundation to act as a truly national organisation and for the first time deliver an Australia-wide education and awareness program.
The MD Foundation will notify the MD community of the outcome of the Foundation's submission following the announcement of the 2009-2010 Federal budget on Wednesday 13 May.
