This summer, the Macular Disease Foundation Australia is supporting local optometrists and Bayer Australia on an awareness initiative called “Do You See What I See?” to help improve the eye health of those at increased risk of developing some of the leading causes of vision loss including age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and glaucoma.
Do You See What I See? aims to increase understanding that early signs of eye disease aren’t always clear. Many eye diseases have no early symptoms, and you may see no change in your vision until eye disease has progressed. The initiative uses optical illusions to remind people to look twice, to take in what they are seeing beyond face value.
Do You See What I See? is being launched in four locations across Australia including Shepparton in Victoria, Nowra and Parramatta in New South Wales and Mackay in Queensland and encourages local communities in these areas (and across Australia) to have their eyes tested regularly, as detecting it early provides the best changes of saving sight.
