Optometrists in Australia from May 2005 have been able to bulk bill Medicare for low vision assessments.
 
If you wish to have a low vision assessment undertaken by your Optometrist, contact your Optometrist and discuss the matter.

Professional Friend Program

Since its inception in 2001 Macular Disease Foundation Australia has enjoyed a long and valuable relationship with optometrists, working together to save sight from macular disease.

The Macular Disease Foundation Australia Professional Friend Program enables optometrists and ophthalmologists to demonstrate their ongoing support of the Foundation and show their commitment to being at the forefront of client support services, as well as helping the Foundation continue its sight saving work.

Participating Professional Friends will display the Professional Friend logo in their practice.
