The Macular Disease Foundation Australia is governed by a board consisting of twelve people.
All Board Members and Advisor positions are honorary.
The diversity in the members is reflected in the diversity of the board, including members from backgrounds in medicine, optometry; corporate, investment and financial fields, information technology and law. Three board members have macular degeneration at differing stages, several members have family with MD, and the ophthalmology and optometry members are internationally recognised specialists in their field.
The board's composition is aimed at a balanced representation of clients with macular disease, community representatives with a strong interest in macular disease and the medical and optometry professions.
The board meets once every twelve weeks with an Annual General Meeting in November of each year.
